Learn more about the development of the first functioning mobile pelletizing machine.
The Challenge
As with any innovative invention, there was a problem to solve: how could horses in a stable be fed automatically with small portions? Simple: with pellets. But while producing pellets from sawdust is easy, hay and straw are spread across fields as stalk material and have a low bulk density — resulting in high costs for transport and further processing.

The Solution
In 1997, Josef Schaider, an established automation technician for industrial plants, took on the challenge and converted a combine harvester for initial tests to develop a mobile pelletizing machine. After intensive phases of tinkering and years of development, Josef Schaider and his son Ludwig Schaider, the current managing director, finally succeeded in developing and making marketable this mobile pelletizing machine, which produces ready-to-use pellets from stalk-like biomass directly in the field in a single operation.
The vision of doing something worthwhile economically has come true.
